Nigeria's Governor of the Central Bank elected world's top central banker by Expresso
Mr. Godwin Emefiele, Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, was elected as the world's 2014 top central banker in a ranking published by the Portuguese newspaper Expresso in its December 13th number. Mr. Emefiele surpassed last year's number one, Mark Carney, Governor of the Central Bank of the United Kingdom, and is now considered the top central banker in the world. The ranking is published by Expresso and is based on indicators such as GDP growth and inflation control. Nigeria's economy remains one of the most quickly developing in the world and the leading economy in Africa with a GDP of 522 billion US dollars, growing more than 6% in past years and with an inflation level of around 8%.
